Why do I need to replace my spa filter cartridge?
Toggle Icon

Replacing your spa filter cartridge helps maintain clear water and consistent circulation. Over time, filters clog with debris and oils, which can reduce flow, strain your pump, and make it harder to keep water balanced. A clean and well-functioning filter is essential for your spa to operate efficiently, help reduce buildup and maintain the quality of your water in your spa.

How often should I rinse and replace the filter? What are the signs?
Toggle Icon

We recommend replacing the CPF-0172 when pleats show wear or performance doesn’t bounce back after cleaning, typically 12–18 months with proper care. Signs it’s time to replace include:

  • Reduced flow even after a thorough cleaning
  • Visible pleat damage, fraying, or flattening
  • Faster-than-usual pressure/flow drop after reinstalling

To keep your filter performing at its best, rinse it every 2–4 weeks during regular use.

How do I know when it's time to clean the filter?
Toggle Icon

If your spa has a pressure gauge, clean the filter when the pressure is about 6–10 PSI higher than when the cartridge was new. Otherwise, signs include weak water flow from the jets or cloudy water that doesn't improve with chemicals.

A good rule of thumb: Rinse the filter every 2–4 weeks during regular use, or more often if your spa sees heavy use or debris buildup.

How do I clean and maintain the filter?
Toggle Icon

Cleaning is easy! Simply remove the filter from your spa, rinse it thoroughly with a hose to remove debris, and let it air dry. For a deeper clean, soak the filter in a filter cleaning solution for a few hours, then rinse it again. We suggest rinsing it every 2–4 weeks to help prolong the life of the filter and ensure optimal performance.

How does this filter work?
Toggle Icon

As water flows through the CPF-0172, it traps dirt, debris, and other contaminants using high-efficiency ProGrade™ pleated media enhanced with DiamondCore™ Technology. The filter is also treated with antimicrobial protection to help inhibit bacteria, mold, and mildew growth on the filter media. A reinforced core adds structural strength, helping the filter withstand pressure and heavy use without collapsing or cracking.

Will this filter help reduce spa chemical usage?
Toggle Icon

Yes. By trapping more debris and contaminants before they circulate, the CPF-0172 helps maintain clearer, better-balanced water. That means your sanitizers (like chlorine or bromine) can work more efficiently—reducing the amount you need to add. Cleaner water = fewer chemical adjustments.

Why is my spa filter clogging quickly?
Toggle Icon

Frequent clogging may be caused by heavy spa use, poor water chemistry, or high levels of debris. Keep your water properly balanced and clean the filter every 2–4 weeks. If problems continue even after rinsing, it may be time to replace the cartridge.

Why should I choose Clarus over other brands?
Toggle Icon

Clarus filters are built for performance, not shortcuts. We use premium ProGrade™ pleated media, a reinforced core built to hold its shape under pressure, and antimicrobial-treated filtration media to help keep the cartridge fresher between cleanings. Translation: stronger flow, better debris capture, and durability you can actually feel so you spend less time swapping filters and more time enjoying clear water. And for extra peace of mind, Clarus filters are NSF/ANSI 50 certified, meaning they meet recognized industry standards for safety and performance in pool & spa filtration, so you can trust the filtration doing its job, day after day.

Is the CPF-0172 certified?
Toggle Icon

Yes. The CPF-0172 filter is certified to NSF/ANSI 50 standards, which means it's been independently tested to meet strict benchmarks for material safety, filtration performance, and durability in spa systems. It's a filter you can trust, backed by science and built for clarity.
